I am doing a report on Elizabeth Blackwell. Elizabeth Blackwell was born in Bristol England on February 3, 1821. She grew up in Bristol, England and was the 3rd child out of nine children. When Elizabeth immigrated, she immigrated to Cincinnati in the United States in 1832. Elizabeth immigrated to the United States so she could have a better life and so Elizabeth could go to a doctor school and become a doctor. When Elizabeth immigrated to the United States she immigrated with her family when she was 11 years old because her father was not able to pay the taxes. When Elizabeth was 17 years old her father died. When Elizabeth was 35 she opened up a store with her younger sister Emily. Elizabeth Blackwell adopted a little girl named Kitty and loved her very much. In 1885 Elizabeth Blackwell started to write an autobiography about her life but wasn’t able to finish because of her death. She was born in Bristol, England on February 3, 1821 and died on May 31, 1910 in Hastings, Sussex, England. Elizabeth is famous for one thing, she was famous for becoming the first women doctor in the United States of America, and for not giving up to people rejecting her in all the doctor schools that she went to. |

Andrew Carnegie was born on November 25, 1835. He was born in Dunfermline, Scotland. Andrew Carnegie grew up in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. Andrew lived with his parents and his little brother. When Andrew lived in Scotland he was a bobbin boy. He got paid $1.20 per week. Andrew had many different jobs when he was in Scotland, but one day Scotland had a dangerous war and Andrew’s family wanted to move to America. When the day came Andrew and his family packed their clothes and was ready to go to America. When they finally arrived in America they knew they had freedom. Andrew Carnegie had a lot of jobs in America, one of his jobs was working in a factory. Andrew was a famous person because he gave 56,000,000 books to the schools and libraries. After that he made schools and libraries. In the year 1881 Andrew became the richest man in the United States because he made a factory and owned it. Andrew Carnegie was a famous person, but his life didn’t last long. Andrew died on August 11,1919 in Lenox, Massachusetts. |

He moved so that he could have a better job and a better life in the United States. Andrew Carnegie came to the United States in 1848 so he immigrated to the United States in that year. When Andrew Carnegie arrived to the United States he came with all his family. When he came to the United States he became really famous. The first reason why he became famous was because he gave a lot of money to the libraries in the U S A but the real reason he became famous was because he had a lot of money. He gave about 56 million dollars in the year 1881. Andrew Carnegie became one of the richest men in the USA. Now with his money we got Libraries and schools. Andrew Carnegie died in Lenox Massachusetts on August 11,1919. Andrew Carnegie got that money because where he worked they paid him 35 dollars per month and he got to be a owner of a factory. |

The person I’m working on is Gloria Estefan. She was born in Havana, Cuba. Gloria was born on September 1st 1957. She is still alive. Gloria and her family immigrated to America in 1959. Gloria’s family moved to America because their Mayor kicked them out of the country. They call them refugees. She is now living in Miami, Florida. Gloria Estefan became a famous singer. She was so famous that she sold 45 million albums worldwide. Gloria had two children and a husband. Gloria also had five Dalmatians named Lucy, Ricky, Tiny, Holly, and Red. Gloria can speak a lot of languages like English and Spanish. Gloria Estefan had an accident and broke her back, but before you knew it she was back on stage singing her heart out. I think that Gloria is a very strong person. When she broke her back I would think that you would keep of the stage, but that did not stop her because she loved singing, so as soon as she felt better she just got back on stage to field her dream and so she did. Now she is back to herself. Now that is my opinion. |

Bob Hope was born on May 29, 1903 in Eltham England. Bob’s very first name was Leslie Townes Hope but he wanted to change it to Bob Hope. Bob was the fifth of seven sons. In 1907 he moved to Cleveland with his family. Bob took dancing classes but then he took over for his teacher. After his classes Bob took millions of jobs like, working with the NBC for 60 years in 1996, Bob was a news paper reporter, and an amateur boxer named the Packy East. Bob’s mother Avis Towns Hope was an aspiring concert singer and his English father William Henry Hope was a stonemason. Bob married a women named Mildred Rosquist, they had four children, their names are Linda, Anthony, Nora, and Kelly. They also had 4 more grandchildren. Bob persuaded Mildred to be his dancing partner but after one show the curtains fell upon her and Mildred’s mother saw it, so her mother took her out. Next Bob decided to team up with his friend Lloyd Durbin and then they joined the Broadway show “Sidewalk of New York”. So Bob Hope became famous by being an actor! |
