Green Soup w/Chicken

Serves: 6 people 

Ingredients:

6 pieces of chicken

3-4 green tomatoes

4-6 scallions (chopped)

1 garlic

½ medium potato

1 peeled potato (any kind)

½ cup chopped cilantro

2 cups of chicken broth

A dash of salt & pepper

Directions:

1.   In a medium saucepan pour in 2 cups of water.

2.   Bring the saucepan to boil, and add the chicken.

3.   Lower the heat and let it simmer for about 25-30 min.

4.   Remove the chicken and let it cool

5.   Place the green tomatoes, the onion, and garlic in a dry frying pan. Put over medium heat turn them over frequently until they are roasted. Put them aside

6.   Peel the potato and cut it into 1-inch dice. Put the green tomatoes, garlic, onion, scallions, and ½ cup of cilantro in a blender add 1 cup of chicken broth and process until it is smooth.

7.   Pour the cup of chicken broth into a medium sauce pan, add the potatoes and bring it to boil for five minutes.

8.   Add the chicken, and the blended ingredients, including salt & pepper

9.   Lower the heat and let it simmer for simmer for 10 min.

I chose this recipe because I love it. It originated from Guatemala.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Serves 20 people

Ingredients:

 1. Box of chocolate chip cookie mix

 2. ½ a bag of semi sweet chocolate chips

 3. ¼ of a stick of butter or margarine

 4. 2 eggs

 5. ½ cup of water

Directions:

1.   Put the cookie mix in the bowl

2.   Add the 2 eggs

3.    Add the water

4.   Add butter or margarine

5.    Stir the mix until it looks light brown, soft, and ready

6.   Spread a little bit of butter on the cookie sheet so the cookies don’t stick on the cookie sheet

7.   Put the mix on the cookie sheet and spread the mix

8.    Spread the mix flat together on the cookie sheet

9.    Put in the oven to bake Bake 10-15 minutes at 375 degrees

10.  Take out the cookies and cut them into shapes with the cookie cutters

         I chose this recipe because it is very good to eat. It is special to me because my mom, my sister and I get together and have fun making the cookies. It has family value because it brings us closer.

Patilitoes

 Servings: 30

Ingredients:

Dough

Cheese

Ham

Cooking oil

Directions:

1. Get a pan and put cooking oil in it.

2. Flatten the dough.

3. Put ham or cheese in the dough.

4. Put them inside the pan. (Don’t put in a lot of cheese because it would get though the dough and go all over the place.)

I chose this dish because it taste good and it’s easy to make. Everyone in my family eats it.

Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Serves 2 people

2 cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup vegetable shortening

½ cup granulated sugar

¾ cup brown sugar, packed

2 teaspoons vanilla

1 egg

1 12oz. Packed semi sweet chocolate chips (use about 10 oz.)

Directions:

1.   Sift first 3 ingredients together, set aside.

2.   Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy.

3.   Add vanilla and egg, beat well.

4.   Add sifted dry ingredients to cream mixture, mix well.

5.   Add chocolate chips, mix well.

I choose to include this recipe for our class cookbook, because this is good food, easy to cook and kids like it. This is special to me because I like to eat chocolate chip cookies.

Roast Chicken

Serves 15 people

Ingredients:

5 pounds of chicken

4 eggs

1 can of plain bread crumb (you use half of the can)

Salt

Seasoning

Cooking Oil

Directions:

1. Clean the chicken by taking the fat out.

2. Put the salt and seasoning on the chicken and spread it.

3. Mix 4 eggs together

4. Take the chicken, dip it on the plate and spread the crumbs over it.

5. After you dip the chicken on the breadcrumbs, take the chicken, put it in the frying pan and let it cook.

Peter Pans Sparkling Pink Punch

Serves 6 - 8 people

Ingredients:

2 ½ Unsweetened Pineapple Juice

2 cups Pink Grapefruit Juice

1 ½ Cups of Sparkling Water

Grenadine Syrup (If Desired)

As Many Fruit Slices as Needed For Garnish

 

Directions

1. Open the cans of pineapple and grapefruit juice.

2. Pour the pineapple and grapefruit juices into a large pitcher. Stir

3. Stir in the water or Sparkling water and some grenade if desired. Pour the punch into glass.

4. Put as many slices of fruit in as you like.

Oven Fried Chicken

Ingredients:

3 cups of corn flakes or ½ of fine dry bread crumbs

2 ½ to 3 pound broiler fryer chicken cut up 

¼ cup of butter or margarine, melted

Directions:

1.   Preheat oven to 375

2.   For the crumb mixture, crush corn flakes finely enough to make 1cup of crumbs or use the ½ cup of breadcrumbs, set aside.

3.   Rinse chicken pieces; pat dry with paper toweling.

4.   Season chicken with salt and pepper.

5.   Brush each piece with melted butter.

6.   Place crushed corn flakes or breadcrumbs on a sheet of waxed paper, roll chicken in crumbs to eat.

Bake in a 375 degree oven for 50 minutes.

Makes 6 servings.

Seboiya

Serves 5 to 6 people

Ingredients:

½ Pound of chopped up Chicken

A quarter cup of chopped up Onion

A quarter cup of chopped up Green Pepper

A quarter cup of chopped up Red Pepper

Directions

Step 1: Get any type of pan. Put a little bit of oil into the pan and start heating the pan.

Step 2: While the pan is heating, get the chopped up chicken and put it into the heating pan for about 5 minutes. Keep turning the chicken.

Step 3: While cooking the chicken get the chopped up onions ready. When your finish turning the chicken, put the chopped up onions into another pan and leave it there for about 5 to 6 minutes, then turn it.

Step 4: When the chicken looks done, take it out and put it onto a plate.

Step 5: When your finish putting the chopped up chicken into the plate go check on the onions. When they look ok take them out and put on the plate with the chopped up chicken. Let both of the food cool off for a while.

Step 6: Next take the chopped up green peppers put them into the hot pan and check up on them in 2 to 3 minutes.

Step 7: While you are waiting for the green peppers to cook, get chopped up red pepper and mix it with the green peppers. Wait for 1 minute, then take it out and put it in the plate and start grubbing on the food.

I chose this dish because it’s my favorite thing to eat and this dish been in my family for a very long time.
