Chicken

Serves 20 people

Ingredients:

One small bag of flour

½ bag of chicken\½ cup of season

Directions:

1. Get one small bag of flower.

2. Then you get the chicken and clean it.

3. Then you put the season on it.

4. Then you put it in flour.

5. Then you put it in the deep fryer

6. Cook for a little bit until it is all done

Salt Fish Cake

Serves 29 people

Ingredients:

1lb of salted bone less fish

1green pepper and 1 red pepper

2 onions

2 and half cups of flour

2 teaspoons curry powder

3 cups of water

¼ of cooking oil

1 teaspoon of bohio

1 paper towel roll

Directions:

1.Soak salt fish in water for approximately 2 hours changing water, frequently.

2. Boil for 10 minutes. Separate into small pieces.

3. Chop peppers together until very fine.

4. Combine all ingredients except salted fish in a bowl or blender and mix until very smooth.

5. After desired consistency (thinner for thin cakes and thick for heavier cake) add salted fish and blend for about 2 minutes.

6. Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a deep frying pan, on medium heat.

7. Spoon batter into frying pan and fry until golden brown.

Tostadas

Serves 20 people

Ingredients:

20 tortillas

2 pounds of tomatoes

1        Cebolla

2 cloves of garlic

½ of each of red/green peppers

½ pound of white cheese

2        teaspoons of consome

1        teaspoon of arina

1        repollo

1½ teaspoons of perejil

Directions:

1. Fry the tortillas in two cups of oil, put each one in a plate so the oil can dry.

2. Next you put a pan with water and you put the tomatoes in.

3. Then you put in the cebolla and the garlic.

4. Then you put the red/green peppers and you let it boil for 15 minutes.

5. Next you put it in the blender so it can mix.

6. Then you put consome and the arina.

7. Next you put repollo on the sauce.

8. Later you put the sauce on the tostadas and it is ready to eat.

It is special to me because my family eats it and it is easy to bake. When my family gets together we eat tostadas a lot and we enjoy it. I think the children will like it.

Mashed Potatoes with Pork Chops and Gravy

Serves 10 people

Ingredients:

4 cloves garlic

Half a teaspoon pepper

Half a lemon

1 square of chicken powder

5 pounds of potato

4 spoons of salt

3 spoons of butter

Half a cup of milk

Directions:

Mix ingredients with the pork chops.

2. Put the ingredients and pork chops in a pot and let the ingredients mix with Pork chops.

3. After 15 minutes put the Pork chops into a frying pan with low fire and make sure it is covered.

Let it stay in covered frying pan for at least 20 minutes.

Take the cover out and let the pork chops fry.

I chose this dish because every time I go to Dominican Republic my grandmother welcomes me with this dish.

Baked Ziti
Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 pound box of ziti

1 48 oz Jar Prego Spaghetti Sauce

1 pound package of kielbasa

1 pound pack of shredded cheese

¼ cup sugar

Directions:

1. Fry ground beef  

2. Fry 2 slices kielbasa

3. Boil water and cook Ziti

4. Stir Kielbasa into the water

5. Add beef to Kielbasa

6. Drain ziti, Kielbasa, and beef and put in a large baking pan.

7. Add spaghetti sauce in the pan and bake.
