Patrick Henry

   
         

       Patrick Henry was born May 29, 1736 in Hanover country in Virginia. He died in 1799. He was delegate to the First Continental Congress.

     Patrick Henry was a poor businessman. He had 4 kids, and a wife named Sarah. He was the governor during the Revolutionary War. He was elected again in 1777, 1778, 1784, and 1785. In 1775 he gave a famous speech: "Give me liberty or give me death". Patrick Henry was delegate to the First Continental Congress.

 
         
 

Crispus Attuck

   
 

 

   
    Crispus Attuck was born in Boston Massachusetts. Crispus Attuck is part Black and part Indian because his father is Black and his mother is Indian. He grew up into a slave. He ran away and became a sailor. When he got back to Boston in 1769 he became a leader for colonist.

     He was very tall, so tall that people only came up to his chest. Then when the British soldiers came to the Boston Massacre Crispus told the colonist to fight back and that’s how he was the first to die. He got shot by Hugh Montgomery a British private. He died on March 5, 1770. In 1888 in Boston built a monument for the people that died in the Boston Massacre. Then they made sure that Crispus Attuck was never forgotten.

 
         
         
 

Betsy Ross

   
         
    Betsy Ross was born on January 1, 1752 and died in 1836. Her family called her Elizabeth. Her family was a nice family. They lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania she met John Ross when she was working outside.

    They set up a shop in 1775, John joined the army but John got hurt because he was watching a cabin filled with fire works. Then it went BOOM! John Ross died then Betsy had to take care of the shop herself. Betsy made bullets for the Americans. She was going against her family. John’s uncle suggested that Betsy should sew the flag. Betsy is famous because she sewed the first flag. In 1777 the first flag had no arrangement for the stars. The flag had 13 stars and 13 stripes to represent all of the colonies.

 
         
         
 

Martha Washington

   
         
      Martha Washington was born on June 2, 1731 near Williamsburg VA. Martha had no formal schooling. Martha was married to George. She had four kids. Two of them died as babies, the other two died in childhood.

     Martha married George in 1758. George became president April 30, 1789. As the first lady Martha entertained George’s guests. Martha married George in 1758.

 
         
         
 

Molly Pitcher

   
         

     Molly Pitcher was born near Philadelphia and went to Carlisle, as a servant at an early age. Then she met a man name William Hays and they married. Her husband was a young harbor in a village.

     When the war was starting Molly Pitcher was wearing clothes like a boy so the soldiers wouldn’t know that she was a girl. After that Molly Pitcher was one of the most famous woman of the Americans of Revolutionary days. When the war was over, the Pennsylvania Legislature gave her a pension for life.

     Molly Pitcher took her husband place and helped her husband crew fire the cannon. Molly real name was call Mary Ludwig usually called Molly. Mary carried water in a pitcher from a nearby spring to her husband’s artillery station. Molly’s first husband died and she married a man name McCauly. The man that Molly married was a friend of her first husband. Molly received half – rations in the Continental Army in return for cooking, washing, sewing, and doing other work.

 
         
 

 

   
 

Patrick Henry 2

   
         
     Patrick Henry was born on May 29, 1736. He was a poor businessman. Henry failed as both storekeeper and a farmer before being admitted to the Virginia bar lawyer in 1760.

     Patrick Henry was in the Sons of Liberty. Henry’s effectiveness as an orator gave him a commanding influence in the legislature throughout his life. In June 1776 he was elected governor of Virginia. He continued in the legislature, fostering the move for independence and helping draft the first state constitution. He also gave a famous speech at the First Continental Congress GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH. He died in the year 1799.
