Samuel Adams

   
           
     Samuel Adams was born on 1722 he didn’t know how ride a horse. He hated the King of England because of his taxes. He walked around talking about the King they called him a walker and a talker.

     His first wife died in 1775 then a few mouths later after his wife died he learned how to ride a horse. Samuel Adams founded the Committees of Correspondence. Since he didn’t like the king he started the Sons of Liberty and he got everyone to hate the king. The Sons of Liberty fought in the war against the British. Samuel Adams signed the Declaration of Independence. Then Samuel Adams died on 1803.

 
         
         
 

Betsy Ross

   
     
    Betsy Ross was born on January 1, 1752 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Betsy was the 8th child out of the other 17 children that was her brothers and sisters. Betsy and her family were all Quakers. Quakers are religious people that live a simple life. Betsy real last name is Griscom.

   Betsy had the most beautiful needlework in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Betsy could go outside but many girls couldn’t go outside. When she was a teenager she got married in 1773. The guy she married named is John Ross, who married Betsy. Betsy’s parents didn’t like John because he wasn’t a Quaker. So John and Betsy made their own shop. Then John had joined the army. John Ross was guarding a store full of ammunition, then that place exploded. Betsy tired to help John heal, but he died. So Betsy became a widow.

While she was a widow, she made musket balls to help the American army. John’s uncle suggested that she sew the American flag, George Washington also agreed. Betsy decieded to make 5 point stars instead of 6 pointed stars. She worked for Ben Franklin. When the British came in to her store they would call her Little Rebel. After that she married a guy named Joseph Ashburn, a sea captain. Joseph Ashburn was taken inside a British. He stayed in a cell and died. Now Betsy has lost 2 husbands. Betsy married another guy named John Claypoole. Betsy had five kids but one died as a baby. Betsy died in the year of 1836.

 
         
 

Deborah Sampson

   
         

     Deborah Sampson was born 1776 and died 1827. She was the oldest out of 6 children. Her family was very poor they didn’t have enough food for every body. So then her family told Deborah to live with her friends or relatives.

     After a while she became a wonderful teacher and joined the army. Deborah pretended to be a man, her name was (Robert Shurtsloff). Deborah was injured two times during the war, she didn’t let them remove the bullet from her leg because they would discover that she was an women. Later during her life she developed a fever. Few months later her captain gave her an honor roll for best brave solider. She died when she was 66 years old in 1827.   

 
         
         
 

General Washington

   
         
    General Washington was born in 1732 in Virginia. He became the first president of the United States of America on January 6, 1759. He married Mrs. Martha Dandridge Curtis.

    During the time Washington was president soldiers were not getting paid to fight in the war, because the government had no money. In 1777 Washington helped make the Articles of Confederation to solve this problem. This paper was called the Declaration of Independence. Washington died in 1799. At his death Washington held the title of the highest US military rank.

 
         
         
 

Paul Revere

   
         
    Paul was born in 1735 and died in 1818 at the age of 83. Paul was a patriot. On the 18th on April 1775, Paul borrowed a horse from his friend Deacon Lark in Charleston to alert the colonist that the British were coming. He got married to Rachel Walker and he was a silversmith.
